a small but mighty school where
learning is an adventure

A New School for Baton Rouge

Harvest Commons School is a new tuition-free public charter elementary school, approved by the East Baton Rouge Parish School System and opening in August 2026.

We are located in the heart of downtown Baton Rouge. Our address is 802 Mayflower Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70802.

Our vision is to create a project-based learning farm school where children learn through hands-on, real-world experiences. From gardening to animal care to creative problem-solving, students will develop the skills, confidence, and curiosity they need to thrive.

Harvest Commons was built with community in mind, and continued community support will help us grow strong from day one. Together, we can bring this vision to life and create a school experience that reflects the hopes and possibilities of Baton Rouge families.

Enrollment is now open for the 2026–2027 school year.

Grow Your Adventure

At Harvest Commons School, we believe that learning should spark curiosity, creativity, and joy. As a small charter school serving K through 5th grade, we nurture the whole child—mind, body, and spirit—through immersive, project-based education.

Here, students don’t just memorize facts; they explore, create, and discover the world around them. Whether it’s learning about the lifecycle of a pumpkin in our garden, mastering fractions by baking with fresh eggs from our school chickens, or designing structures to care for our animals, Harvest Commons turns lessons into living experiences.

Academic Info

A Different Kind of Elementary School

Harvest Commons School is designed to be a learning environment where children truly thrive—small, student-centered, and rooted in curiosity, creativity, and real-world exploration.

As a project-based learning farm school, students learn by doing. Whether they’re tending a garden, caring for animals, solving big-picture problems, or collaborating on hands-on projects, children build confidence, critical-thinking skills, and a deep connection to their learning.

Harvest Commons brings together strong academics, meaningful experiences, and a close-knit community to create an elementary school experience that feels purposeful, joyful, and grounded in the world around us.
